I know it's not a Hudson, but I'm shooting it in exactly one week.

1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2. Just say that name. It sound expsensive. Because it is. And in exactly one week I’ll be enjoying that SOHC Colombo V12 firsthand for an upcoming Driving.ca video. What should I do with it? I don’t think I can do burnouts with it but what do you want a classic Ferrari video to have in it?

It’s pretty powerful, so you may want to use at least a .308 to take it down with.

I have a feeling the owner would be unhappy if you shot his car. Also, you should at least ask about burnouts, and definitely get some clips of revs and accelerations.

Is that the car? That color is fantastic.

Get a gentleman and an attractive woman and two small children to ride in it, or at least get into the interior, so we can see its suitability as a four-seater.

Ask if you can do a burnout. Not an Aussie-style fuck-the-environment burnout, just a nice smokey rip. For science.

I want to know 2 things: the interior, and the sounds. What’s it like to sit in, to drive, how are the buttons/dials, comfy or no, visibility, etc etc etc. It won’t be easy to be objective, but is it really that great driving an older machine like that? (I know, you’re probably a bit biased towards older cars.) And the sounds: let’s hear that motor roar, on the road, not sitting in neutral.

If you get to drive it - what do the clutch and shifter feel like? 4 speed? Heavy steering?

I was thinking a nice .50 Black Powder.

Close range should knock her down.

Some solid exhaust note sounds while driving without music and stuff. And ask politely if you can chirp the tires

The particular car I’m featuring just got out of a $150k+ restoration. Sadly, I can’t even clip gopros to the paint, let alone fling rubber on the quarters. But rest assured, we’ll wind up that V12 over and over. I’ll also include lots of interior shots just for you!

I shall report back on this. My estimate is that the steering is VERY heavy at slow speeds.

Also, you MUST make a diaper joke. Maybe have one sitting in the background of the car as a little easter egg?

Lots of glorious engine noises. Let me think about the rest and I'll get back to you.

I recommend starting with a couple of shots of the exterior at dawn, better if near the ocean. Go from black and white to color as the sun rises. Technicolor filtering if you can. Focus on the tailpipes as the engine cranks, car briskly pulls away as the exhaust goes from sweet burble to growl.

Switch to aerial shot ... car cruising through some fast bends, mountain passes. Enter tunnel front shot with lights on - radial lens flare. Zoom in to the face of the driver as he blips the throttle on the downshift, big grin ... engine howl in the tunnel and fade to black before the exit.

Car reaches a town, ground wet from recent rain. Cobblestones and mediterranean feel to the place. Drives slowly past a curb where old men sit in front of a cafe drinking coffee. Zoom in to one gent ... a knowing nod, smile and tip of the hat as he passes by.

Park in the town square, fountain in the background. Man exits the car, tall sharply dressed - a younger Fellini Ray-Bans and all. A raven-haired woman approaches, they embrace warmly and walk into a hotel. Focus and then blur on a passing figure on an upper floor window.

Later the same couple exits the hotel, she reaches in his pocket and grabs the key ... he smiles and she slips into the driver’s seat. They go around the plaza twice before taking the road out of town.

Mid afternoon sun filters through the trees on a two lane road ... the branches creating a living trellis. Leaves scatter under the tires ... as the sun sets they approach a villa ... the car at dusk. Night falls ... spotlights on the car accentuate the body lines ... soft out of focus fade.
